Vacuum Ovens for Precise Heat Treatment
Many applications require precise heat treatment under controlled conditions. Our vacuum ovens provide solutions for a wide range of processes, from gentle drying to high-temperature applications.
A typical application is the drying of samples and materials before they are transferred into a glovebox to reliably remove moisture and ensure optimum process conditions. In addition, vacuum ovens are used for more demanding applications such as sealing HID lamps or conducting corrosion tests with molten salts. For these processes, MBRAUN offers high-performance high-temperature vacuum ovens that ensure safe and reproducible process control.
- Drying of powders and air-sensitive materials
- Degassing of components
- Drying of polymers
- Ideal for R&D and temperature-sensitive materials
- Available diameters: 150 mm and 390 mm
Details
In the lower temperature range, the focus is on the gentle removal of moisture and solvents without subjecting the material to thermal stress. This temperature range is also ideal for typical laboratory applications, such as drying paper wipes or complete packages of nitrile gloves to reliably reduce residual moisture. For these applications, we offer various oven airlocks with diameters ranging from 150 mm to 390 mm.
- Drying of battery electrodes (e.g., lithium-ion technology) to remove residual solvents
- Removal of high-boiling solvents in pharmaceutical and fine chemical applications
- Curing and crosslinking of resins, coatings, and adhesives
- Thermal post-treatment of plastics and composite materials
- Degassing and preparation of components for downstream high-temperature processes
Details
This temperature range significantly extends the capabilities of conventional vacuum drying, enabling not only moisture removal but also the targeted thermal activation of materials. The combination of elevated temperatures and reduced pressure efficiently removes even high-boiling solvents while reliably preventing oxidation and contamination.
Vacuum ovens up to 250°C are particularly suitable for applications where reproducible processes, high purity, and a controlled atmosphere are essential. They offer an optimal balance between processing speed and material protection, making them ideal for both laboratory and industrial applications.

At temperatures up to 600°C, vacuum ovens enable targeted heat treatment processes to optimize material properties. Under vacuum, oxidation and unwanted reactions with the surrounding atmosphere are effectively prevented, allowing exceptionally clean, reproducible, and material-friendly processes.
This temperature class is ideal for applications where the microstructure, mechanical properties, or purity of a material must be precisely controlled. At the same time, the vacuum efficiently removes trapped gases and volatile components, significantly improving component quality and long-term stability.

High-temperature vacuum ovens operating up to 2,000°C enable complex material transformations and are among the key technologies for the most demanding industrial and scientific applications. Under extreme temperatures and in controlled vacuum or inert gas atmospheres, processes can be performed that would not be possible under ambient conditions.
In high-tech applications, vacuum ovens of this class allow precise control of material properties at the highest level—from microstructure to electrical and thermal performance. At the same time, the controlled atmosphere minimizes contamination and ensures maximum product quality.

Vacuum furnaces: Explanation & overview
Many applications require thermal treatment. MBRAUN offers a range of ovens designed for different process requirements.
A common application is the drying of samples or products before they are transferred into the glovebox. Various oven models with temperatures up to 600°C are available. Some operate exclusively under vacuum, while others can also operate at atmospheric pressure.
Heating accelerates the transfer process, whether for large quantities of materials or for products that are difficult to dry quickly, such as sponge-like materials. All oven models are standard products with a proven track record of reliable performance. Depending on the selected model, parameters such as temperature setpoints, heating times, and minimum pressure levels can be individually configured.
As with our antechambers, the oven doors can be equipped with safety interlocks to prevent accidental opening and contamination of the glovebox atmosphere. Various sizes are available, ranging from mini antechambers to the standard dimensions of our glovebox antechambers.
These high-temperature ovens are used in a wide range of applications, including the sealing of HID lamps and corrosion testing in molten salts.
For HID lamp applications, these models feature a double-walled stainless steel construction with two lids. They are available either with an integrated glovebox or as a standalone system.
For molten salt corrosion testing, MBRAUN offers high-temperature ovens operating at temperatures of up to 2,000°C, specifically designed for these demanding applications and fully integrable into our glovebox systems. This integration allows analyses to be performed directly within the glovebox, preventing any exposure of the samples to ambient air.
In addition, these ovens support electrochemical analyses, enabling comprehensive investigations of material properties under various operating conditions. This ensures precise material characterization in a controlled atmosphere.
Using our specialized ovens, material samples of container alloys can be immersed in molten salt within a crucible and rotated to ensure uniform exposure to the test medium. This method makes it possible to evaluate the corrosion resistance of materials—such as stainless steels—against these highly aggressive molten salts.
The MBRAUN MB-N2 Inert Gas Purge Convection Oven is the ideal solution for thermal processing in moisture-sensitive applications, providing precise thermal conditions within a particle-free inert gas atmosphere.

MBRAUN also develops hot plates for substrate annealing. Several standard models are available with temperatures of up to 400°C, suitable for operation under both atmospheric pressure and vacuum conditions.
Typical applications:
Removal of moisture and/or solvents from substrate surfaces, as well as the curing of sensitive materials under controlled conditions.
