Thermal Processing
Thermal processing is a key element of numerous high-tech manufacturing processes. Whether for drying, curing, degassing, or high-temperature applications, precise control of temperature, atmosphere, and process parameters is essential.
MBRAUN provides complete solutions for thermal processes under vacuum, inert gas, or defined atmospheric conditions. Our systems ensure reproducible results while reliably protecting even the most sensitive materials from moisture, oxygen, and contamination.
Applications & Fields of Use
Thermal processes are used across a wide range of industries and can be flexibly adapted to specific requirements:
- Drying and degassing of materials and samples
- Curing of coatings, polymers, and functional layers
- Heat treatment of metals, ceramics, and composite materials
- High-temperature processes for research and materials development
- Preparation of materials for downstream process steps
Technologies from a Single Source
MBRAUN offers a coordinated portfolio of thermal processing solutions:
- Vacuum ovens for clean, oxidation-free heat treatment and drying
- High-temperature furnaces for demanding processes and materials analysis
- Inert gas convection ovens for uniform heating and moisture-free processing
- Hot plates for rapid substrate treatment and coating curing
Direct integration into our glovebox systems enables thermal processing entirely under a protected atmosphere, providing a decisive advantage for demanding applications. Users in battery technology, semiconductor manufacturing, and materials research particularly benefit from significantly reduced contamination risks and efficient, closed process chains.
Every solution is individually tailored to your specific requirements. Our focus is on stable processes, seamless integration, and maximum material quality. Parameters such as temperature profiles, pressure, gas atmosphere, and process duration can be precisely controlled and continuously monitored.
Convection Oven
- Convection oven with inert gas purge (N₂, CDA)
- Excellent temperature uniformity and process stability
- Typical process temperature of approximately 160°C
- PLC control with an intuitive user interface
The MBRAUN MB-N2 inert gas convection oven is the ideal solution for thermal processes where moisture, oxygen, and particle control are essential. Continuous nitrogen purging prevents oxidation and ensures a stable, clean process atmosphere.
Integrated forced convection provides uniform temperature distribution and efficient heat transfer, even for complex components and large-area substrates (Generation 1 to Generation 5.5).
Hot Plates
- Drying and curing of battery electrodes (e.g. lithium-ion)
- Curing of organic coatings (OLED, PLED, perovskites)
- Thermal treatment of coated substrates
- Process development for research and production
The Hot Plates provide a precise and highly reproducible solution for drying and curing functional coatings, particularly for battery applications, OLED/PLED technologies, and advanced materials research. Operation under an inert atmosphere or vacuum enables the safe processing of highly sensitive materials while protecting them from moisture and oxidation.
Thanks to their compact design, the systems can be easily integrated into a glovebox, allowing thermal processing to be carried out directly at the workstation under fully controlled conditions.
