Inert Gas Purification
Precise processes begin with a pure atmosphere
MBRAUN offers high-performance gas purification systems for gloveboxes and inert gas systems. Our gas purification systems are at the heart of our MBRAUN gloveboxes. They are specifically designed for applications where an oxygen-free and dry atmosphere is critical. Our systems reliably remove oxygen (O₂) and moisture (H₂O) from the glovebox circulation loop to ensure a stable inert gas environment, whether you’re working with nitrogen (N₂), argon (Ar), or other inert gases. This creates a stable, reproducible environment.

Details
MBRAUN inert gas purification systems offer a comprehensive, scalable portfolio for a wide range of applications, from compact laboratory systems to complex industrial processes.
All systems ensure the reliable removal of oxygen and moisture to levels below 1 ppm, thereby creating a stable, high-purity inert gas atmosphere. While single-filter systems offer a compact and efficient solution, dual-filter systems enable continuous operation through parallel regeneration. Modern control technologies, automated processes, and energy-efficient operating modes ensure maximum ease of use and minimal operating costs.

Details
The MB-RGG Regeneration Gas Generator enables the independent and on-demand production of regeneration gas directly at the glovebox. Hydrogen is produced exactly when it is needed and consumed immediately, without any storage. This eliminates not only the typical risks and logistical challenges associated with gas cylinders but also the reliance on an external supply of regeneration gas.
Thanks to quick-connect options, the system can be easily integrated into new or existing MBRAUN gloveboxes. The MB-RGG thus offers a cost-effective and low-maintenance alternative to conventional regeneration. At the same time, operation below the explosion limit and on-demand gas production ensure maximum safety and reliability in your laboratory.

Details
Nitrogen gas purification offers a unique solution that, in addition to the standard removal of oxygen and moisture, also reliably eliminates nitrogen from the inert gas atmosphere. The system combines two filter columns for the continuous purification of O₂ and H₂O with an additional high-temperature titanium reactor unit for effective nitrogen removal.
Thanks to this design, purity levels of less than 1 ppm are achieved for all three gases, which is particularly crucial for demanding applications such as battery development and production. The integrated Siemens PLC handles complete control of all processes, including temperature management, pressure control, and regeneration.

Details
The MB-PA-60-Ti is a specially developed particle absorber for use under inert gas conditions and is ideally suited for the safe handling of reactive or pyrophoric materials such as titanium or aluminum. The system reliably removes dust, vapors, and welding residues from the glovebox atmosphere by circulating the gas in a closed loop through filters, a blower, and a heat exchanger, and then returning the purified gas to the system. For maximum safety, the particle absorber features gas-tight connections and a sophisticated filter system with differential pressure monitoring. Collected particles are captured in a separate container that can be removed while remaining airtight.

Details
MBRAUN’s tritium retention systems (TRS) offer a comprehensive and safe solution for treating tritium-containing process gases. All tritiated chemical compounds, including elemental, oxide, and hydrocarbon-based species, are first catalytically converted into the oxide form (HTO). The resulting tritiated water is then efficiently removed from the gas stream using molecular sieve beds.
The system consists of several perfectly coordinated subsystems, including a tritium oxidation system, a water absorption system, and a safe unit for collection and disposal. Redundant filters enable continuous operation, while integrated monitoring and control systems record and document all relevant process parameters in real time.
A closed containment system with a ventilated glovebox and fume hood reliably protects users from exposure. At the same time, precise process control ensures safe recirculation or controlled discharge of the purified gases.
Application
How Our Gas Purification Systems Work
A closed loop is formed between the glovebox and the gas purification system. The gas is continuously passed through a filter that removes oxygen and moisture. This achieves a purity of less than 1 ppm with minimal gas consumption.
As soon as the filter becomes saturated, it is automatically regenerated. During this process, the absorbed substances are removed, so that the filter is fully operational again without needing to be replaced. This process typically takes about 16 hours and runs completely automatically. In systems with two filters, continuous operation is even possible: while one filter is regenerating, the other takes over the purification. This keeps the atmosphere in the glovebox stable at all times, ideal for continuous work and the safe storage of sensitive materials.
